Zoomst w/KRB
All Aboard the Good Ship Zoomst
Born into and inspired by an apocalyptic world, this New Orleans-based art project creates exploratory rock-fusion, embodying sleek futurismic groove. In their maniacal and meticulous approach to sound, these earthlings blend ideas from symphonic rock, swamp funk, trip-hop, and more, enrobed in textured electronic-inspired sound design. Technology and the human spirit fuse to build a cyberfunk discovery machine powered by love.
Influenced by the doctrine of improvisation, Zoomst never plays the same show twice. Each performance is passionate, unique, and unpredictable, with the players often as surprised and entranced as the audience. In their continued explorations, Zoomst hopes to bring genuine musical experiences everywhere they go and altruistically inspire humanity for its own betterment.
This versatile quartet emerged in April 2021 with a porch concert, after more than a year of secret incubation. Since then, Zoomst has become a recurring act at classic New Orleans institutions such as the Maple Leaf, d.b.a. and Hi-Ho lounge, and has performed notable sets to packed houses at Tipitina’s, the Joy Theater, and Fete du Void. They have performed alongside artists such as Lespecial, Mike Dillon, The Iceman Special, and Banshee Tree.
Two self-booked tours have taken Zoomst to 12 states so far. A successful adventure to Colorado in 2022 featured standout nights in Fort Collins and Steamboat Springs. In 2023, Zoomst made connections with new fans by touring through the Southeast, Midwest, and mid-Atlantic, highlighted by significant shows in NYC and in the DC area.
Their debut album Aboard the Good Ship is set for waterfall self-release in Spring 2024. This earth-space-rock-opera will showcase Zoomst’s knack for writing unique and enthralling songs that artfully recombine diverse influences with fresh ideas, creating unexpected emotional flavors. The concept explores important questions about the fate of the human race, and the nature of progress, through an enchanting semi-comedic lens illustrated by fascinating lyrics with multiple layers of meaning.
Recording began in December 2022 at the renowned Dockside Studio in Maurice, LA, and continued through 2023 at Downman Sounds in New Orleans, with guest performers including Mike Dillon (Les Claypool, Punkadelick) and Miles Lyons (New Orleans Nightcrawlers, California Honeydrops). Finished and mixed at homes around town with engineer and co-producer Joseph Kalb (George Porter Jr.), Aboard the Good Ship was crafted with special attention to detail and authentic sound, and Zoomst is thrilled to share it with the world
